Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 August 2026

Sport Junkies is operated by Desco Global (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use Sport Junkies, why, and what control you have over it. If you have questions, write to jonathan@desco.global.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address or phone number, and the display name you choose.
  • Profile details you choose to add: favourite club, a short one-line bio, and, if you upload one, a profile photo.
  • Gameplay data: your predictions, scores, league memberships and standings, and cup results.
  • League chat messages you post, visible to other members of that league.
  • If you turn on notifications, the push subscription details needed to deliver them to your device.
  • Basic technical logs (route, method, status code, timestamp) used to keep the service running. These logs are deliberately written to exclude credentials, email addresses and request content.
  • A record of a few things you do in the app, so we can tell whether it works: a page was opened, an invite or a shared call was opened, a prediction was saved, a league was created, a share was started. Each record holds what happened, when, and a random id for your current browser tab. It does not hold your IP address, your device or browser details, your location, or anything you have typed.

How we use it

To run the predictions game itself: scoring, standings, cups, streaks and achievements. To show you and your league mates each other’s picks, chat and profile once a gameweek locks. To send you optional push notifications about upcoming kickoffs and results, if you enable them. To review content you or another player reports, so we can act on genuine problems.

How we count what happens

The records above are written by Sport Junkies, into Sport Junkies’ own database, and are read only by us. No analytics company is involved and no script from anyone else runs on these pages. The tab id that ties a few of those records together lives in your browser’s session storage, not in a cookie: it is gone when you close the tab, it is never sent anywhere but here, and it is never matched up with a previous visit. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we record nothing at all.

When someone opens a link you shared, the link carries a random reference so we can count how many people opened it. The reference says nothing about who opened it, and it is removed from the address bar as soon as the page loads.

What we don’t do

We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking or analytics services. Your predictions, chat and profile are visible only to the members of the private leagues you join, never publicly.

Who we share it with

Match fixtures and results come from a third-party football data provider; we send that provider no personal data about you at all, only requests for public match information. Our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) processes data on our behalf to run the app and its database, and may do so from data centres outside South Africa as part of its global network.

Profile photos

Photos are capped in size and stored with the rest of your profile. We do not run automated content scanning on uploads today; instead, any player can report another member’s photo, and our moderators review and can remove reported photos.

Children

Sport Junkies supports child profiles for family leagues, but a child profile must be created and managed by the adult who owns the parent account, and a child profile cannot create or administer a league.

Your account, your control

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab, under Settings. Doing so removes your profile photo, contact details, friend connections, push subscriptions and status posts outright. Your past predictions and league history remain so that other members’ standings and history are not disrupted, but they are no longer linked to your name or email once deletion completes. You can also write to us directly to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app changes. Meaningful changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
